Ministries

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION:

We provide opportunities for all ages to grow in Faith outside of Sunday morning worship.

  • Adult Bible study on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 10:30am in the library and on Zoom - contact us for the link.
  • Confirmation on Sunday evenings at 7:30pm for youth in grades 6-8th during the school year
  • Nursery School and Early Education includes a chapel time with Pastor Rebecca on Wednesdays at 10:30am
  • Sunday School after a children's time in worship at 10am for children in preschool through 6th grade
  • Occasional learning events with our larger Eastern Nassau Conference, Interfaith Council of Syosset-Woodbury, and the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

CONGREGATIONAL CARE AND FELLOWSHIP:

We provide opportunities for developing social as well as spiritual relationships among members and the larger community.

  • Hospitality with Sunday morning coffee hour following worship and for other events
  • Prayer Chain to pray for members, family, and friends throughout the week
  • A "Shepherds" system of care for all members that is lay-led
  • Home Visitation by the pastor and lay leaders
  • Periodic fellowship activities including a summer congregational picnic, an Interfaith Community Thanksgiving service, and Memorial Day parade. We like to eat together!
  • Several times a year our talented church musician presents musical offerings for the church and the community under the title, “Travis and Friends.”

EVANGELISM:

Our Evangelism Team seeks to share the story of Christ’s love and salvation with the community we serve. It publicizes our ministry in the community and represents the church at community events.  Our communications include a monthly newsletter, weekly bulletin, social media and website engagement.

FINANCE:

Our finance ministry assures that adequate financial resources are available to enable the church to fulfill its mission and approved programs. In addition, this ministry administers the financial resources of the church and reports on the financial status and interprets financial procedures to ministry teams that have budgets as well as to members of the church.

  • Investments
  • Stewardship:
Throughout the year, the stewardship ministry encourages the congregation to be generous in its response to God’s goodness. It encourages weekly worship of God and daily prayer for the ministry of the church. It encourages all members to share their time and talents to strengthen the ministry of the church. It also promotes generous financial giving among the members in support of Christ’s ministry at Faith.

GLOBAL MINISTRIES:

Through its mission support, Faith is involved in sharing the saving message of Christ throughout the world. It also demonstrates the love of Christ for the world in supporting efforts to feed the hungry, help those who faced disaster, as well as those facing social injustice.  Below are some of the ministries we support outside of our congregation.

PROPERTY:

The property ministry helps foster and maintain an environment that is both safe and welcoming for all who wish to participate in spiritual growth within the building and grounds of the church facility.

WORSHIP AND MUSIC:

The worship and music ministry helps the congregation become aware of the meaning and practice of worship and to assist the pastor in planning and conducting the worship services, including music and the other arts that may be conducive to worship.
